Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to promote a zero-harm culture within mining operations. You will implement robust HSE policies, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with OHS Act and Mine Health and Safety Act, protecting personnel.

Reporting to site leadership, you will develop training programs, lead site inspections, investigate incidents, and drive continuous improvement through safety initiatives and engagement across all levels.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Safety Management or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in health and safety, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
• Knowledge of OHS Act and Mine Health and Safety Act regulations.
• Proficiency in risk assessment techniques and incident investigation.
• Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety management systems.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all OHS regulations and company safety policies.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees at all levels.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement and awareness initiatives.
