Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Officer to ensure a safe working environment for mining operations in Queenstown. The role develops, implements, and monitors health and safety programs to comply with legislation and industry best practices.

You will conduct site inspections, risk assessments, safety training, and incident investigations while collaborating with management and employees to foster a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in health and safety management, preferably in mining.
• Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., SAIOSH).
• Strong knowledge of OHS Act and Mine Health and Safety Act regulations.
• Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety management systems.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards.
• Investigate workplace incidents and near misses, recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver health and safety training to employees at all levels.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and standards.
