Placements24 seeks a proactive Mining Engineer in Randburg to develop and optimize short- and long-term mine plans ensuring safe, efficient extraction. You will work with operations, geology and survey teams to integrate data and deliver comprehensive designs and schedules.

Utilize Deswik, Vulcan or MineSight for design and simulation, perform geotechnical assessments, and contribute to feasibility studies and production planning with a collaborative, hybrid-work environment.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and skilled Mining Engineer specializing in mine planning to join their team in Randburg . This role is essential for developing and optimizing short-term and long-term mine plans to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of resources. You will work closely with operations, geology, and survey departments to integrate various data sets and produce comprehensive mine designs and production schedules. Your contributions will directly impact the strategic direction and operational success of our Gauteng -based mining ventures.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update detailed mine plans, including pit designs, stope layouts, and production schedules.


• Perform geotechnical analysis and advise on ground support requirements for safe mining operations.


• Conduct mine feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects or mine expansions.


• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, MineSight) for design and simulation.


• Collaborate with operations teams to ensure effective implementation of mine plans.


• Monitor mine performance against plan and recommend adjustments as needed.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering.


• Proven experience in mine planning and design, preferably in open-pit or underground mining.


• Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software.
