Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Community Relations Manager to build and maintain strong relationships between mining operations in Soweto and local communities in Gauteng. You will help foster social licence to operate, manage stakeholder expectations, and coordinate dialogue with residents and local authorities.

The role requires a degree in Social Sciences or related field and at least five years in community relations or CSR, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or CSR, preferably within the mining sector.
• Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong understanding of community development principles and social impact assessments.
• Familiarity with the socio-economic landscape of Gauteng is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive community engagement strategies and plans.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, local government officials, and residents.
• Manage community feedback mechanisms, addressing concerns and resolving issues effectively.
• Identify and support community development projects aligned with company social responsibility goals.
• Organize and facilitate community meetings, consultations, and stakeholder forums.
• Monitor and report on community sentiment and the effectiveness of engagement programs.
• Ensure compliance with social and labor plan requirements.
