Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Eng (Ventilation) or Mechanical Eng required.
• 7+ years of underground mine ventilation engineering experience.
• Proven skills in ventilation modeling software and data analysis.
• Strong thermodynamics and fluid dynamics knowledge.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their dynamic team in Richards Bay . This critical role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing mine ventilation systems to ensure optimal air quality, temperature, and safety conditions for personnel and equipment in the KwaZulu-Natal mining operations. You will be responsible for conducting ventilation surveys, modeling airflow, and recommending strategies to control heat, dust, and gases. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to a safe and productive mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and optimize mine ventilation networks using specialized software (e.g., Ventsim, Minesight).
• Conduct regular ventilation surveys, including air velocity, pressure, and gas concentration measurements.
• Develop strategies for controlling heat stress, dust suppression, and gas dilution in underground workings.
• Monitor the performance of ventilation fans, regulators, and auxiliary systems, recommending maintenance or upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to mine ventilation.
• Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate ventilation requirements into mine design and production schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering with a specialization in Ventilation, or Mechanical Engineering.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, with a focus on underground operations.
• Proven expertise in mine ventilation modeling software and data analysis techniques.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and contaminant transport principles.
• Understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
