Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mine Ventilation Officer to join the Soweto-based operations team. The role focuses on monitoring air quality, temperature, and humidity underground and supporting design and implementation of ventilation strategies.

You will work with the ventilation engineer and mine management to maintain a safe, productive underground environment in Gauteng. Knowledge of ventilation equipment and health and safety legislation is essential.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent in mining/related field.
• Minimum 3 years in mine ventilation or related role.
• Knowledge of mine ventilation principles and equipment.
• Familiarity with health and safety legislation.
• Ability to use basic monitoring equipment and record data.
• Good observational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular monitoring of air quality, dust levels, and atmospheric conditions underground.
• Assist in maintenance and operation of ventilation fans, ducting, and auxiliary systems.
• Ensure compliance with legislative requirements regarding mine ventilation standards.
• Record and report ventilation survey data accurately.
• Identify potential ventilation hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Support the ventilation engineer in planning and implementing ventilation improvements.
