Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mine Surveyor to join our client’s operations near Paarl. You will map underground and surface mine workings, provide accurate survey data for planning and compliance, and work closely with mining engineers and geological teams to support safe, efficient operations.

The role requires experience with total stations, GPS, laser scanners, and familiar software. On-site, you will calibrate equipment and maintain records to high standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years as a Mine Surveyor, preferably in underground or open-pit mining.
  • Degree or diploma in Mine Surveying or related discipline.
  • Proficiency with modern surveying instruments and software (AutoCAD, Deswik).
  • Strong understanding of mine geometry and spatial data management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and records.

Responsibilities

  • Survey underground and surface mine areas including tunnels, stopes, and stockpiles.
  • Prepare and maintain mine plans, cross-sections, and contour maps.
  • Set out work areas for drilling, blasting, and development per mine plans.
  • Perform volumetric calculations for ore, waste, and stockpile volumes.
  • Calibrate and maintain surveying equipment; ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations during survey operations.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proficient Mine Surveyor to join their operational team near Paarl . This role is essential for accurately mapping underground and surface mine workings, ensuring precise control over excavation and extraction activities. You will utilize advanced surveying equipment and techniques to provide critical data for mine planning, operational guidance, and compliance reporting. Working collaboratively with mine engineers and geological teams, you will ensure the integrity and accuracy of all survey data. This is a key position within the operational structure, contributing to the efficiency and safety of the mine through meticulous measurement and data management.

Key Responsibilities
