Job summary
BHP Billiton in Johannesburg seeks a Strategic Mine Development Analyst to evaluate and optimize mining projects across the South African portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Strategic Development, you will conduct feasibility studies, market analyses, and risk assessments to guide investment decisions and portfolio strategies.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology or related discipline is required.
- Minimum of five years in mine planning, feasibility, or strategic development.
- Experience with large-scale projects, capital budgeting, and stakeholder management in SA.
Responsibilities
- Lead detailed feasibility studies for new mine development projects.
- Perform market and commodity price forecasting for viability assessments.
- Collaborate with geologists, engineers and environmental specialists to integrate data.
- Develop risk assessments covering operational, regulatory and ESG risks.
- Prepare investment proposals and present strategic recommendations to leadership.
- Monitor project performance against KPIs and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Support long-term mine life planning aligned with sustainability targets.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes in SA.
