Placements24 is seeking a Principal Mining Engineer for open-pit operations at a flagship mine near Pretoria, Gauteng. You will provide strategic direction, lead design, planning and execution, and partner with geoscience, geotech, and processing teams to optimize value while maintaining safety and compliance.

The role requires 10+ years in open-pit mining, strong leadership, and proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan and MineMax.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in open-pit mining operations and planning.
• Expertise in mine design, scheduling, and optimization software.
• Strong geotechnical, surveying, and blasting knowledge.
• Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Willingness to relocate near Pretoria.

Mansioni

• Lead development and execution of long-term and short-term open-pit mine plans.
• Optimize designs for ore recovery, equipment utilization, and cost efficiency.
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical reviews, and economic evaluations.
• Oversee use of mine planning software (Deswik, Vulcan, MineMax).
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with geologists to define ore bodies and optimize mine models.
