Job summary

VKB Group seeks a qualified Millwright to join the Engineering Services team in Petrus Steyn. You will install, maintain, test and commission electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems to keep plant operations efficient and safe.

With a minimum of 10 years’ experience and a valid Millwright trade certificate, you will perform preventative maintenance, fault-finding, and continuous improvements while adhering to VKB safety standards. This role requires lifting equipment and working at heights.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4, and a valid Millwright trade certificate.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and commission electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment and systems at the plant.
• Perform preventative maintenance according to schedule and reduce downtime.
• Conduct fault-finding and problem-solving on electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Report breakdowns and complete job cards and daily log sheets.
• Identify improvement opportunities on equipment and installations.
• Liaise with internal departments to ensure quality of service and products.
• Mentor team members to follow standard processes and practices.
• Comply with VKB Occupational Health and Safety standards.
• Complete all compulsory training interventions.

Your Role

We are looking for a qualified Millwright to join our Engineering Services team in Petrus Steyn. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our plant and equipment run efficiently, reliably, and safely.

You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and commissioning electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems — including electrical transmission and distribution equipment — while performing preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and commission electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment and systems at the plant.
• Perform preventative maintenance according to schedule, ensuring machinery operates optimally.
• Conduct fault-finding and problem-solving on electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Report breakdowns and machine failures to management; accurately complete job cards and daily log sheets.
• Continuously identify opportunities for improvement on equipment and installations.
• Liaise with internal departments to ensure quality of service and products.
• Mentor team members to follow standard processes and practices, ensuring efficiency and reduced downtime.
• Comply with VKB’s Occupational Health and Safety standards.
• Complete all compulsory training interventions.

Requirements

• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4.
• Valid Trade Certificate: Millwright (essential).
• Strong mechanical and electrical experience (both fields essential).
• Code B driver’s license.
• Clear criminal record.
• Must have at least 10 years’ experience in maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Must have ability to use Microsoft packages including Teams, word, excel, PowerPoint and outlook.
• Ability to use PRAGMA maintenance program
• Would be beneficial if you have experience in agricultural environment.
• Ability to weld with both stick and CO2 welding
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
• Not afraid to work athights (must)

• Knowledge on bearing installation and selection.
