Job summary

Headhunters in Vereeniging seeks an experienced Millwright (Electromechanician) with a strong electrical background to maintain large electrical and mechanical installations. The role requires SCADA/PLC experience and the ability to troubleshoot quickly.

You must hold a Section 13 or 26D Trade Test Certificate, have at least five years’ relevant experience, be medically fit, own a vehicle or have transport, and be willing to work with MHSA/OHSA safety standards.

Qualifications

• Section 13 or 26D Trade Test Certificate as a Millwright (Electromechanician) is required.
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in maintenance of large electrical and mechanical installations.
• Strong electrical background and ability to troubleshoot accurately and quickly.
• At least 5 years’ experience with SCADA and PLC control systems; field-control instrumentation is advantageous.
• Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance principles.
• Extensive knowledge of centrifugal pumps (slurry and clean water) and positive displacement pumps.
• Willingness to accept MHSA and OHSA safety appointments.
• Interpretation of electrical drawings, P&IDs, and mechanical schematics.
• Basic instrumentation knowledge including probes and calibration.
• Knowledge of RCA principles and preventative/predictive maintenance.
• Medically fit; own transport or vehicle.
• Own accommodation within the region.

Responsibilities

• Ensure application of and adherence to the Computerized Maintenance Management System (MaintainX) and asset register control.
• Attend breakdowns and prioritize jobs promptly.
• Plan and perform routine servicing, repairs and preventive maintenance on electro-mechanical equipment.
• Monitor and report on plant condition and apply preventive maintenance strategies.
• Apply sound HR principles, administration and control procedures to meet objectives.
• Adhere to safety and housekeeping standards per MHSA/OHSA and ISO systems.
• Hold required safety appointments as per job requirements.
• Maintain stock levels as specified in contracts and requirements.
• Assist with sourcing, quality control, and pricing of equipment and refurbishment/repair.
• Represent the company professionally with a solution-driven approach.
• Support other sites within the region as required.

• Apply sound human resource principles, administration and control procedures in order to meet performance objectives.
• Apply and comply with all relevant safety and housekeeping standards, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Mine Health and Safety Act, as applicable to the site. Comply with all applicable ISO management-system requirements and contribute to the continual improvement of these systems.
• Be able to hold legal Safety appointment/s, in line with job requirements and MHSA & OHSA.
• Ensure that specified, approved and contractual required stock levels are kept.
• Assist with specifications, sourcing, quality control of equipment required / refurbished / repaired as well as pricing, tendering and implementation on new electrical, mechanical and civil installations.
• Represent the company professionally and with a solution-driven approach.
• Support other sites within the region as required.
