Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Metallurgist specializing in concentration processes for a hybrid role in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The candidate will optimize flotation, gravity, and magnetic separation to improve recovery and concentrate grade, while conducting lab and pilot plant tests and implementing process improvements.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or related field and a minimum of 5 years in mineral processing.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in mineral processing, with focus on concentration techniques.
Proven experience with flotation, gravity separation, and/or magnetic separation processes.
Proficiency in metallurgical laboratory techniques and data analysis.
Strong understanding of comminution circuits and their impact on downstream processing.

Responsibilities

Oversee and optimize concentration processes to maximize mineral recovery and concentrate grade.
Conduct laboratory and pilot plant test work to evaluate new process technologies and improvements.
Troubleshoot operational issues in the concentration plant and implement effective solutions.
Monitor key process parameters and performance indicators to ensure efficiency and targets.
Collaborate with operations to implement process changes safely and effectively.
Develop and maintain process documentation, including SOPs and metallurgical reports.
Stay current with metallurgical advancements and processing equipment.
Assist in budgeting for the concentration plant.
