Job summary

Ultra Personnel is recruiting for a full-time, permanent Medical Sales Specialist based in Johannesburg East & Vaal, reporting to the Regional Sales & Operations Manager (Gauteng). You will promote Hospital Care products, identify customer needs, present product information, and leverage sales experience to achieve revenue targets.

Qualifications

• 4-year Dietetics degree completed.
• 2–3 years of medical sales experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive services to all allocated customers in the region.
• Promote and sell products per defined strategies within assigned geographical areas.
• Develop professional relationships with customers in the region.
• Attend industry symposiums, congresses, and conferences.
• Develop an area plan aligned with the division's strategy.
• Pre-call planning with objectives and required feedback.
• Report on market information: customer requirements and competitor activity.
• Ensure samples and marketing material are presentable.
• Identify training needs and plan training sessions.
• Ensure product and clinical data knowledge is up to date.
• Know competitor products and guidelines.
• Incorporate publications and data during sales calls.
• Tests on product knowledge twice per year with 80% pass rate.

Job description

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Johannesburg East & Vaal, reporting to the Regional Sales & Operations Manager (Gauteng). The successful incumbent will work with clinicians, nursing staff and allied health to promote Hospital Care related products. This will include identifying customer needs and opportunities, presenting product information, and utilizing sales experience to achieve revenue targets. In addition, you will work with other Sales Specialists, Clinical Educators and Marketing to ensure successful product training and implementations, with a focus on both growing and maintaining the territory.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide supportive services to all allocated customers in assigned geographical areas.
• Promote and sell products to all allocated customers as per defined strategies within assigned geographical areas.
• Develop strong professional relationships with all the customers in the assigned geographical area.
• Attend industry symposiums, congresses, and conferences (this includes functions scheduled during evenings and over weekends).
• Develop an area plan based on the division's strategy - ensuring strategic customers and products are included.
• Pre-call planning should be completed prior to each call and must include call objectives, feedback required from previous call, etc.
• Report on all relevant market information: changes in customer requirements, competitor activities, complaints, etc.
• Ensure samples and marketing material are always in a pristine and presentable condition.
• Identify customer Training needs and plan training sessions accordingly.
• Ensure product and concept knowledge (Nutrition & Fluids etc.) is up to always date.
• Ensure knowledge of competitor products and relevant guidelines are updated regularly.
• Ensure knowledge of clinical data is always up to date - incorporate publications and articles during daily sales calls.
• Tests based on product and concept knowledge will be written a minimum of twice per year and pass rate of 80% must be met.

Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience:

• Completed 4 years’ Dietetics Degree
• Proven experience of a minimum of 2 to 3 years in medical sales experience
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively within a large geographical region.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the region
