Job summary

Kenmore is seeking a Projects Engineer (Mechanical) to join the team on East Rand, Gauteng, with regular time on mine sites across Africa. You will oversee turnkey projects from detailed engineering through commissioning, coordinating with the Projects Director and managers on site and in the office.

You should have a BEng/BSc(Eng)/BTech in mechanical engineering and 3–8 years in heavy industry, ideally on mining plant projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering (BEng, BSc(Eng) or BTech) required.
• Three to eight years in heavy industry, ideally plant/equipment projects in mining.
• Comfortable on mine sites and able to read and challenge drawings.

Responsibilities

• Review designs and specifications against contract, site and process needs.
• Prepare and check technical scopes for suppliers and fabricators.
• Plan installation with project manager, supervise on-site teams and contractors.
• Lead or support mechanical commissioning and handover to client.
• Maintain drawing registers, change control and operating manuals.
• Contribute to project costing with technical input and flag changes early.
• Travel to sites across Africa as required.
