Job summary

Kenmore seeks a Design and Applications Engineer (Mechanical) to join its East Rand, Gauteng team. You will design plant layouts, select equipment, and prepare proposals for mining projects across Africa, with on-site problem solving as needed.

The role focuses on front-end project work, client communication, and practical design that can be built and priced. Autodesk Inventor experience is preferred, with 3D layout and field support.

Qualifications

• BEng, BSc(Eng) or BTech in mechanical engineering; ECSA registration a plus.
• Three to eight years in heavy industry with plant layout or equipment selection.
• Able to explain design choices clearly to clients without jargon; remain calm under challenge.

Responsibilities

• Develop plant and equipment layouts for proposals and projects: flowsheets, selection, sizing, general arrangements and reasoning.
• Hand clear designs to the costing team so bids reflect what will actually be built.
• Present and explain designs to clients on site and in meetings; discuss trade-offs.
