Job summary

FM Staff seeks a Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineer with at least 3 years post-graduate experience in HVAC for building services. You will design HVAC systems, perform heat load and ventilation calculations, and model using AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360, and Navisworks. Knowledge of SANS/ASHE standards is advantageous.

Travel to site for project monitoring will be required. You will work under a senior engineer, manage projects end-to-end, and contribute to data centre, healthcare, clean room, and

• Must have a BEng / BSc / BTech degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Must have minimum 3 years post-graduation working experience in HVAC.
• Proficient in HVAC design, including air conditioning heat load and ventilation calculations, in line with local and international standards.
• Proficient in HVAC modeling software and BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360, Navisworks).
• Skilled in various HVAC design software (e.g., HAP, Loadest, IES) and air/fluid/heat flow calculation tools.
• Capable of managing projects from inception to closeout, with the ability to work independently.

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer, or a Mechatronic Engineer, who has at least 3 years' specific post grad experience in HVAC in Building Services.

Requirements

• Must have a B Eng / BSc / B Tech degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Must have minimum 3 years post-graduation working experience in HVAC.
• Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng or eligible for professional registration.
• Proficient in HVAC design, including air conditioning heat load and ventilation calculations, in line with local and international standards.
• Proficient in HVAC modeling software and BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360, Navisworks), and knowledgeable in manual air psychrometric analysis and design.
• Skilled in various HVAC design software (e.g., HAP, Loadest, IES) and air/fluid/heat flow calculation tools.
• Capable of managing projects from inception to closeout, with the ability to work independently. Guidance from a senior engineer will be provided for complex or high-value projects, ensuring appropriate support and oversight.
• Must have experience related to Mechanical engineering, specifically HVAC, designs and construction monitoring on either or multiple of the following sectors:

• Data Centres
• Healthcare Facilities
• Clean Rooms
• Advanced Manufacturing

• Experience in Medical Gases, Mechanical Utilities, Refrigeration Systems, Wet Services/ Public, Fuel System Design, Vertical Transportation and Fire Engineering Services will be highly advantageous.
• Knowledge of South African National Standards (SANS), particularly ventilation, with an understanding of global standards like British Standards and ASHRAE as an advantage.
• Skilled in thermodynamic and pipe network design principles.
• Expertise in specifying and approving specialist equipment.
• Code B drivers licence with own vehicle for commute to work and back.
• Computer literacy (programming skills will be advantageous).
• Must be self-motivated.
• Team player.
• Excellent communicator and good discussion and problem resolution skills.
• A self-starter who can run with and manage his own projects with the guidance of a senior engineer.
• Must be responsible and have a high level of self-sufficiency and be able to apply common sense.
