Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for an industrial facility in Upington. You will perform scheduled maintenance, diagnose failures, and support preventative programs to ensure ongoing production continuity.

The role requires a trade qualification (Mechanical Fitter/Millwright) and a minimum of three years in industrial maintenance, with welding/fabrication exposure being advantageous. Safety and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter, Millwright or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Safety and quality mindset and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Proficiency in welding, fabrication, and machining is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment (pumps, motors, conveyors, hydraulics).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, manuals and repair instructions.
• Conduct routine inspections of machinery and report defects or issues.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
