Job summary

Placements24 in Vereeniging is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our operations team. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnose and repair faults, and implement preventative maintenance to minimize downtime on critical industrial equipment in oil and gas facilities.

The ideal candidate holds a trade qualification and has at least 3 years' experience, able to read schematics, use hand and power tools, and work safely in a team or independently.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification (e.g., N3 Mechanical Engineering, Fitter and Turner) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or oil and gas environment.
• Proven ability to maintain and repair pumps, compressors, gearboxes, valves, and other industrial machinery.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and safety procedures.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently, with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on rotating and static mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures, conducting necessary repairs in a timely manner.
• Install, align, and commission new mechanical equipment according to specifications.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
