WSP Africa is growing its Power & Energy team and is looking for Substation Primary Plant Design Engineers and Technologists at Junior, Intermediate, and Senior levels. You will contribute to transmission, distribution and renewable-energy grid connection projects across Africa and international markets, working on LV, MV, HV and EHV systems up to 765 kV.

What You'll Do: Develop substation layouts, perform design calculations, prepare specifications and tender docs, review designs, and

Qualifications

• BSc, BEng or BTech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant substation primary plant design experience.
• ECSA registration or candidate status as appropriate.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, SANS, NRS, Eskom or similar standards.
• Experience in transmission, distribution or renewable-energy projects.

Responsabilités

• Develop substation layouts, single-line diagrams, sections, equipment arrangements, earthing, lighting and lightning protection designs.
• Complete design calculations and studies covering clearances, busbars, equipment ratings, insulation coordination and earthing.
• Prepare specifications, reports, schedules, BOQs and tender documentation.
• Review supplier/contractor designs and support construction, testing and commissioning.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary and global teams on utility, IPP, Solar PV, Wind and BESS projects.
