Job summary

Trs Staffing Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Khoemacau Copper Mine tailings thickener conversion project.

You will deliver mechanical engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring safe, on-schedule, and within-budget execution. The role is based in Botswana and requires a strong background in mining plant operations, construction supervision, and commissioning, with ECSA Pr Eng preferred.

Qualifications

• BSc / BEng Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• ECSA Professional Registration (Pr Eng) preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience in the mining and mineral processing industry.
• Demonstrated experience on tailings thickener projects, slurry handling systems, process plant modifications, pumps, piping systems, and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all mechanical engineering activities associated with the tailings thickener conversion project.
• Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Provide engineering support during construction, installation, commissioning, and project handover.
• Ensure project activities are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality requirements.
• Manage contractors and coordinate activities between engineering disciplines.
• Conduct site inspections, equipment assessments, and quality audits.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement practical engineering solutions.
• Support procurement activities, supplier evaluations, and technical bid assessments.
• Prepare technical reports, progress reports, risk assessments, and project documentation.
