Fluor Corp is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a Tailings Thickener Conversion Project at the Khoemacau Copper Mine. The role delivers mechanical engineering expertise across the project lifecycle, ensuring safe, on-time, and within-budget execution while upholding quality standards.

The position is based in Botswana and supports a major mining operation. The successful candidate will have a BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years in mining, and familiarity with tailings

Qualifications

• BSc / BEng in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• ECSA Pr Eng preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience in the mining/mineral processing industry.
• Experience on tailings thickener projects and related equipment.
• Experience in project execution, construction supervision and commissioning.
• Proficient in engineering software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all mechanical engineering activities for the tailings thickener conversion project.
• Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, specifications and calculations.
• Provide engineering support during construction, installation, commissioning and handover.
• Ensure safety, schedule, budget, and quality compliance.
• Manage contractors and coordinate between engineering disciplines.
• Conduct site inspections, equipment assessments, and quality audits.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement practical solutions.
• Support procurement activities and technical bid assessments.
• Prepare technical and progress reports and risk assessments.
