Job summary

Fempower Personnel seeks an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join an EPCM team delivering large-scale mining projects in Johannesburg. This fixed-term contract (2+ years) is based in Johannesburg with occasional site travel fully sponsored by the company.

Essential qualifications include a BSc/BEng/BTech in Mechanical Engineering, leadership training, and active licensure with the local governing body (e.g., ECSA).

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
• Mining project experience mandatory
• EPCM experience mandatory
• Essential: licensed with local engineering governing body (e.g., ECSA)
• Desirable: training in risk management or quality

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical SME on all mechanical engineering matters across multiple mining projects
• Ensure adherence to engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications
• Support standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates
• Participate in bid clarifications, evaluations, and vendor information review
• Review and authorize work done by direct reports
• Provide discipline supervision and mentorship to junior engineers
