Job summary

Jendamark GmbH in South Africa seeks a Design Engineer to join the design department team and deliver engineering designs and solutions aligned with customer specifications.

You will gain exposure to ECR design, detailing of small fixtures and SPAs, and learn to create design releases within controlled budgets, while collaborating across assembly and commissioning phases.

Qualifications

• Formal tertiary education in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Basic hand sketching and concept development skills required.
• Familiarity with basic machine calculations and FEA.
• Understanding of material specification and processes.
• Good time management and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Work with design department to deliver engineering designs and solutions per customer specs.
• Assist in ECR designs and detailing for small fixtures and special purpose applications.
• Help specify components for procurement and support during assembly and commissioning.
• Create design release packages for manufacturing under mentorship.
• Contribute to cost reduction opportunities and stay within budget.

Basic Requirements:

• Formal Tertiary education : N. Dip or higher in Mechanical Engineering Or
• Mechatronics Degree
• Drivers License : Code 8 - required
• Languages : English (speak, read, and write)
• Afrikaans (speak, read, and write)
• German (Advantageous)

Experience:

• Basic hand sketching skills
• Basic understanding in concept development
• Basic machine calculations & FEA Experience
• Basic understanding of material specification & processes
• Basic time management skills
• Must be able to operate in Team environment

Job Objectives:

• To work within the design department team to deliver engineering designs and solutions specific to customer requirements and / or specifications.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Exposure to ECR Designs & Detailing for small fixtures and tools.
• Exposure to Design & Detailing of small Special Purpose application.
• With assistance establishing most effective design solution to achieve required specification.
• With assistance to specify components for the purpose of procurement.
• Continuously engage with Assembly and Commissioning during phases of the project.
• With mentorship be able to create design release package for manufacturing purposes.
• With mentorship be able to create final designs within a controlled budget environment.
• To comply with ISO procedures of Jendamark.
• Must be a Team player.
• Ability to use own initiative.
• Actively reduce costs. Provide suggestions and opportunities for cost savings.
• Understand and comprehend facility purpose and objectives.
• Basic calculation of stresses, forces and accuracies.
