Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in HVAC systems to join our client in Port Elizabeth. You will design, implement, and optimize climate control solutions for commercial and industrial projects, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and compliance with safety standards.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 4+ years of HVAC design experience, and proficiency with HAP/Trace 700.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design and engineering of HVAC systems.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software such as HAP, Trace 700, or similar.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and psychrometrics.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and local building codes.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems including air handling units, chillers, boilers, and distribution networks.
• Develop detailed design documents, P&IDs, and equipment specifications using CAD software.
• Perform load calculations, airflow analysis, and energy modeling for HVAC systems.
• Ensure designs comply with building codes, ASHRAE standards, and energy efficiency regulations.
• Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and contractors during design and implementation phases.
• Conduct site visits for assessment, system verification, and troubleshooting of existing HVAC installations.
