About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop compact and intricate mechanical parts and assemblies for consumer electronic devices using 3D CAD software.
• Optimize designs for mass production, considering factors like DFM, DFA (Design for Assembly), and cost-effectiveness.
• Perform thermal analysis, structural analysis (FEA), and tolerance analysis to ensure product performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with industrial designers to achieve aesthetic and ergonomic goals while maintaining functional integrity.
• Work closely with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical designs with PCBs, batteries, and other electronic components.
• Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation processes, providing insights for design refinement.
• Specify materials (plastics, metals) and finishes suitable for consumer products.
• Manage relationships with overseas manufacturing partners, ensuring quality and timely delivery of components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues throughout the product development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on consumer electronics.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo).
