Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a fully remote role focused on consumer electronics. You will lead mechanical design, analysis, and integration with a globally distributed team of designers, electrical engineers, and firmware developers.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years in product design for consumer electronics, and is proficient in CAD tools and simulation. SA remote work eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 8+ years of mechanical design and product development experience in consumer electronics.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, CATIA or Fusion 360 and simulation tools (FEA, Moldflow).
• Experience with high-volume manufacturing and DFM/DFA principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept to mass production.
• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and specifications for components and assemblies.
• Conduct FEA, thermal and vibration analyses for reliability.
• Collaborate with industrial designers to translate aesthetics into manufacturable designs.
• Coordinate with electrical/firmware teams for integration of mechanical and electronic components.
• Manage supplier relationships and oversee prototype builds and pilot production.
• Develop and execute test plans for mechanical components and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of innovative consumer electronic products, from concept to mass production.

• Conduct thorough mechanical analysis, including FEA for stress, thermal, and vibration analysis, to ensure product reliability and performance.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design and product development, with a strong focus on consumer electronics.
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Fusion 360) and simulation tools (FEA, Moldflow).
• Proven experience in designing for high-volume manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, CNC machining).
• Strong understanding of materials science, thermal management, and acoustics.
• Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with demonstrated success in remote team environments.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
