Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Mossel Bay team. You will conceptualize, design, and develop mechanical systems and components, contributing to product lines and operational efficiency.

You will use SolidWorks/AutoCAD/In inventor for 3D design and perform FEA/thermal analyses, collaborating with manufacturing to ensure feasible, cost-effective production. A strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of professional mechanical design experience.
• Proficient in CAD tools and FEA/simulation software.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems using 3D CAD.
• Perform stress and thermal analyses to validate designs.
• Create detailed drawings, BOMs and specifications for production.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Participate in design reviews and address issues from prototyping to production.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related challenges during development.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and creative Mechanical Design Engineer to join their established team in Mossel Bay, Western Cape . Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems using 3D CAD software, ensuring designs meet functional, aesthetic, and performance requirements.
• Conduct stress analysis , thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate design integrity and optimize performance.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs) for production.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible for production and cost-effective.
• Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and technical insights to the team.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues encountered during prototyping, testing, and production phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in mechanical design and development.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor.
• Experience with FEA simulation tools and techniques is essential.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for design accuracy in Western Cape .
