Placements24 is assisting a client in Port Elizabeth to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their established engineering team focused on design, development, and testing of innovative mechanical systems. The role is on-site in an on-site environment, contributing to the full product development cycle from concept to production.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, at least four years of design experience, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks or Inventor),

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks or Inventor) and simulation tools.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and GD&T.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems using 3D CAD software , ensuring functional and aesthetic requirements are met.
• Conduct stress analysis , thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate designs.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are optimized for scalability and cost-effectiveness.
• Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance product performance and reliability.
• Assist in the testing and validation of prototypes, documenting results and implementing necessary design modifications.
