Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will design and optimize heavy-duty mining equipment, develop 3D models and manufacturing drawings, and run FEA analyses to ensure durability in harsh environments.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years' design experience with CAD/FEA tools. On-site position with opportunities to work with prototypes and manufacturing floors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical design, preferably with heavy machinery.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and FEA tools.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and systems for heavy-duty mining equipment.
• Create 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings with CAD software.
• Perform FEA and kinematic simulations for stress and fatigue.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement and field service teams.
• Specify materials and manufacturing processes for mining applications.
• Develop testing procedures and implement design improvements.
• Troubleshoot design issues across development and manufacturing.
• Ensure designs meet industry standards and safety regulations.
