About the Role

Our client seeks a highly skilled and experienced Marine Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of their maritime operations in the beautiful coastal city of Richards Bay . This demanding role requires exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and a deep understanding of marine safety regulations, vessel management, and logistics within the challenging KwaZulu-Natal environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective deployment of marine assets, managing a diverse team, and liaising with various stakeholders, including port authorities and regulatory bodies. This is a critical position within the region's Leisure & Sports and maritime sector, demanding a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all daily marine operations, including vessel scheduling, deployment, and maintenance.
• Ensure strict adherence to all national and international maritime safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Oversee the procurement, operation, and maintenance of marine vessels and associated equipment.
• Develop and implement operational procedures and policies to enhance efficiency and safety.
• Manage and mentor a team of marine crew, port staff, and support personnel, ensuring high performance and morale.
• Liaise effectively with port authorities, customs, clients, and other regulatory bodies to ensure smooth operations.
• Develop and manage the operational budget, controlling costs while maintaining service quality.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in marine operations management, shipping, or a related maritime field.
• Proven track record of managing vessel operations and safety compliance.
• Strong knowledge of maritime law, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Experience with budget management and financial oversight.
• A relevant degree or certification in Marine Operations, Maritime Studies, or Engineering is highly preferred.
