Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Technician in Mossel Bay to join a specialist marine and offshore solutions team. The role focuses on developing electrical systems, producing detailed schematics, BOMs, and equipment specs for vessels and offshore platforms.

You will work under senior engineers, ensuring design compliance with marine standards, supporting testing and commissioning, and traveling for site work when required.

Qualifications

• Requires a National Diploma or Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
• Proficiency in CAD for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and ability to read complex drawings.
• Experience with marine or industrial electrical systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing electrical systems for marine vessels and offshore structures.
• Produce detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using CAD software.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and component lists for electrical installations.
• Support senior engineers in selecting equipment suitable for marine environments and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Assist in testing and commissioning of electrical systems and provide on-site or remote support as needed.
• Maintain and update design documentation and databases.
• Collaborate with project managers and other engineering disciplines.
• Conduct site visits to verify installations and troubleshoot as required.
