Job summary

Macsteel VRN Gauteng requires a Maintenance Technician to provide technical maintenance support, repair and commissioning of machinery, and inspections. The role emphasizes safety, shutdown planning, and cost-saving initiatives.

Candidates must be qualified Millwright or Electrical Artisan with 5 years' hands-on PLC systems, wiring, and supervisory exposure; crane, forklift, heights, and fall arrest certifications are essential, with a CoC advantageous.

Qualifications

• Minimum NQF Level 4–5 (Grade 12+ / Higher certificate).
• Qualified Millwright / Electrical Artisan.
• 5 years' total experience with PLC systems and wiring; supervisory exposure.
• Sound knowledge of the OHS Act.
• Code 08 Driver's Licence is essential.
• Crane, Forklift, Working at Heights and Fall Arrest certifications essential; CoC advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Respond to technical queries within required timeframe.
• Commission and repair machinery, equipment, and products.
• Conduct on-site repairs, commissioning activities and surveys.
• Perform maintenance overhauls and assemble products.
• Inspect equipment to identify faults or defects.
• Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production.
• Identify cost-saving initiatives within area of control.
• Provide specialized technical support to internal and external stakeholders.
