Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician II to join our manufacturing and production team in Benoni, Gauteng. The role focuses on routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to minimize downtime and sustain production efficiency.

You will work with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, diagnose issues, and implement solutions. A strong safety mindset, teamwork, and the ability to work independently are essential for keeping facilities running smoothly

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or relevant certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of industrial machinery.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) is an advantage.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be willing to work on-site in Benoni, Gauteng, ZA.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on all plant machinery and equipment according to schedule.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures on production equipment.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues quickly to minimize production downtime.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to perform repairs and installations.
• Maintain a clean and organized maintenance workshop and tools.
• Document all maintenance activities, including repairs performed, parts used, and time spent.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations in the workplace.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed for maintenance tasks.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in maintenance procedures and practices.

About the Role
