Job summary

Ramsay Engineering in Prospecton is seeking a capable Maintenance Technician to support shift operations, uphold 5S, and drive safety and quality on the production lines.

You will perform basic milling and lathe operations, assist with robot setting, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, while ensuring attendance targets and proper tool availability.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing environment experience required.
• Strong communication skills and numeracy with English literacy.
• ABET Level 4 English literacy.
• Understanding of disciplinary code & grievance procedure.

Responsibilities

• Carry out basic milling and lathe machine operations.
• Perform robot programming and robot setting as needed.
• Make welding jig adjustments per CMM reports.
• Assist with shift leader duties when required.
• Ensure 5S and safe working practices in the area.
• Maintain records and attend to production duties.

TQM/ Elimination of waste

• Reduce the impact of change overs
• Optimise jigging/loading configurations on the production lines-
• Perform planned maintenance as assigned from planned schedule
• Ensure that the equipment and spares for the required schedules are available for planned and unplanned maintenance
• Assist in identifying, analysing and finding solutions to the TOP 3 concerns for machine downtime.
• Identify, analyse & find solutions in areas of responsibility
• Perform engineering projects in order to improve productivity and part quality
• Ensure 5S
• Promote 5S condition in affected working areas as well as common work areas as allocated.
• Ensure PPE Usage
• Improve the safety within the working area & meet safety targets for the area
• Carry out safety checks on machines according to a prescribed checklist
• Ensure work performed within the factory is conducted in a safe manner
• Implement SHEMS procedures
• Carry out risk assessments on factory facilities

Quality

• Conduct, measure and adjust process parameters in accordance to the process checklist
• Reduce defective parts produced on the production cells
• Record welding and process parameter changes
• Implement & uphold quality standards to reduce defects within the plant, as per targets defined by the quality control board
• Achieve quality targets

Delivery

• Ensure that the plant is running without any unplanned stoppages within the specified parameters to ensure clients requirements are met.
• Carry out basic milling and lathe machine operations
• Responsibilities include those of the Shift leader duties (when required)
• Carry out robot setting as per request from Quality Laboratory Assistant for weld penetration purposes
• Make welding jig adjustments as per the CMM report when necessary
• Responsible for robot programming when needed
• Job card recording on PRAGMA
• Responsible for own personal attendance to ensure it is 98% on an ongoing basis.

• Maintain, monitor & make necessary adjustments of the desired parameters
