Job summary

Ramsay Engineering is seeking a Quality Assurance professional with a strong background in automotive quality systems to join our facility in Prospecton. The role emphasizes calibration management, measurement instrumentation, and adherence to customer specifications.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience, be proficient with measuring equipment, and able to read customer drawings. Preference given to those with VDA 6.3 and IATF16949 auditor qualifications.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience in automotive quality manufacturing.
• Proficiency with measurement equipment such as a microscope for weld pens, IMTE, and CMM.
• Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and specifications.
• Ability to compile test reports per Ramsay and customer specifications to ensure parts pass.
• Liaise with external suppliers regarding calibration of test and measuring equipment and maintain calibration register/schedule.
• Ensure gauges/measuring equipment are accounted for and calibrated per the Gauge Pack System, including decommissioning obsolete gauges.

Responsibilities

• Champion inspection and testing of products/services procured and control laboratory consumables.
• Prepare monthly product audits, calibration status, functional testing, weld pen status reports.
• Involve in monthly stock takes and support SQT/Supplier quality initiatives to meet APQP / IATF16949.
• Support quality training regarding inspection sheets, CF WI and quality alerts.
• Issue audit reports to suppliers and follow up on open items from audits.
• Deliver quality documentation as per milestones and participate in Supplier Parts Tracking Team (SPTT).

Job Objectives:

• Experience in manufacturing environment with quality laboratory systems within automotive industry.
• Must be able to use a measuring equipment, i.e., Microscope for weld pens and IMTE for measuring and testing, CMM for scanning of parts accuracy
• Must have ability to read and interpret customer drawings, understand customer specifications.
• Ability to compile test reports that meet Ramsay and Customer specific reports to ensure our parts are passed, approved and accepted by our customers.
• Liaise with external suppliers regarding calibration of test and measuring equipment and maintain calibration register / schedule.
• To ensure that all gauges/measuring equipment are accounted for and calibrated as per the Gauge Pack System. This includes decommissioning of all obsolete gauges/ measuring equipment.
• To ensure that all gauges/measuring equipment is stored according to the Ramsay SOP /IATF 16949
• To report any measuring equipment which is not stored accordingly to the department manager.
• To ensure all Checking fixtures/gauges are maintained accordingly, this includes cleaning and replacing missing items.
• Champions the inspection and testing of the products/services being procured and controlling laboratory consumables – Sodium persulfate, sodium chloride, blades, discs, grinders, drills, stones, grease, oil, brake fluid, IMTE, etc
• Monthly report – Product audits, Calibration status, functional testing, weld pen status
• Actively involved in a monthly stock take.
• Metal pressing / Welding /Metal finishing / Coating /Moulding /Trim / Assemblies experience
• Support with Quality training regarding inspection sheets, CF WI and quality alert.
• Issue audit report to the supplier and follow up regarding any open items from the audit.
• Deliver Project Quality documentation as per milestones.
• Actively involved in SPTT’s (Supplier Parts Tracking Team).
• Support SQT and external / internal suppliers to ensure product quality is achieved prior to delivery according to APQP / Customer requirements / VDA6.3 / IATF16949
• Support supplier quality issues and ensure the effective implementation of corresponding quality control measures.
• Support internal process & system audit and issue reports.

Experience:

• At least 3 years’ relevant experience
• Computer Skills
• Exposure to Quality Control / Quality Assurance / Quality Engineering systems within the automotive competent manufacturing industry

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 is compulsory
• National Diploma or Degree in Quality or Electro-Mechanicial
• Qualified VDA 6.3 Process Auditor (advantageous)
• Qualified IATF16949 internal and 3rd party Process Auditor (advantageous)
