Job summary

Aspen Pharma Group in South Africa’s Eastern Cape seeks a hands-on facilities maintenance technician responsible for installing, inspecting and repairing building infrastructure and mechanical systems in pharmaceutical operations. The role requires skills in plumbing, fitting, welding, painting, or air conditioning to maintain offices, buildings and site services in line with GMP and safety standards.

• Grade 12/Matric.
• N4–N6 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with 5 years' related experience.
• Trade tested Fitter, Fitter and Turner, Plumber, Air Conditioning Mechanic or equivalent.
• 2–4 years post-apprenticeship experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience maintaining pharmaceutical manufacturing or packaging equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on facilities, buildings and infrastructure.
• Reactive Repairs: Respond quickly to emergency breakdowns, power failures, water leaks, and equipment malfunctions.
• General Building Upkeep: Perform basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general handyman tasks across the facility.
• Contractor & Asset Management: Supervise external service providers, manage spare parts, inventory and log tasks via SAP.
• Record water and other resources used for carbon footprint reporting.
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to reliability and efficiency.
• Maintain workshop tools, spare parts and maintenance resources.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, safety standards, SOPs and engineering best practices.
• After hour call out and standby responsibilities.

Job description

Installs, inspects, and repairs building infrastructure, utilities, and mechanical systems. The role requires, plumbing, fitting welding, painting or air-conditioning skills to maintain offices, buildings and site services, complying to preventive maintenance schedules, GMP and safety standards.
