Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience in heavy haulage or oversized load transportation.
• Valid South African PDP with heavy vehicle endorsement (Code 14 preferred).
• Experience operating lowbeds and multi-axle trailers.
• In-depth knowledge of load securing, weight distribution and relevant regulations.
• Familiarity with Richards Bay port area and surrounding industrial zones.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and certified Industrial Logistics & Heavy Haulage Driver to join their growing team in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . This challenging role is essential for transporting large-scale industrial equipment, raw materials, and oversized loads critical to the region's thriving port and industrial sector. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with heavy-duty vehicles, specialized trailers, and a deep understanding of load management, safety regulations, and route planning for complex deliveries. You will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods to and from industrial sites, construction areas, and the port facilities. This position demands a professional attitude, exceptional driving skills, and a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence in a demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty trucks and specialized trailers for the transportation of industrial equipment, machinery, and oversized loads.
• Ensure the safe loading, securing, and unloading of all cargo in accordance with industry standards and company procedures.
• Plan and execute efficient and safe routes for long-haul and local deliveries, considering load dimensions, weight restrictions, and road conditions.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies governing heavy haulage operations.
• Maintain accurate driving logs, delivery records, and fuel consumption reports.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and site personnel regarding delivery schedules, delays, and any operational issues.
• Manage and maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Respond to emergencies and breakdowns in a professional and efficient manner.
• Contribute to a safety-first culture by actively identifying and mitigating risks within the operational environment.

Requirements

• Valid South African driver's license with PDP and appropriate heavy-duty vehicle endorsements (Code 14 preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in heavy haulage, industrial transport, or oversized load transportation.
• Proven experience operating various types of heavy-duty trucks and specialized trailers (e.g., lowbeds, multi-axle).
• In-depth knowledge of load securing techniques, weight distribution, and over-dimensional transport regulations.
• Excellent understanding of the road network and logistics in and around Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal , including port and industrial areas.
• Strong safety consciousness and a commitment to adhering to all safety protocols.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a demanding schedule.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform physical tasks related to loading and unloading when required.
• Must be medically fit to operate heavy vehicles.
