Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Long-Distance Truck Driver with a Code 14 license for a key role based in Rustenburg. You will manage end-to-end delivery cycles, plan routes, conduct vehicle checks and ensure safety and on-time performance across extensive South African routes.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years of verifiable long-haul driving experience, a clean driving record, PDP, and familiarity with truck logging systems.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Operate a heavy-duty truck (Code 14) for long-distance freight transportation, adhering to all national road safety regulations and company policies. Plan and optimize routes for inter-provincial and national deliveries, ensuring timely arrivals and departures. Conduct thorough pre-departure inspections, including checking tires, brakes, fluid levels, and securing the load appropriately. Perform basic maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues to the fleet manager immediately. Maintain accurate logs for driving hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery records using the company's provided systems. Ensure the secure and safe loading and unloading of cargo, complying with all handling procedures. Maintain constant communication with the dispatch center, providing updates on location, delivery status, and any potential delays. Demonstrate excellent driving skills, especially in varied weather conditions and challenging terrains across South Africa. Manage personal time effectively during long trips, ensuring adequate rest periods as mandated by law and company policy. Represent the company professionally at all times, interacting courteously with clients and other stakeholders.

Requirements

Valid South African Code 14 driver's license and a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP). A minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience as a long-distance truck driver, operating heavy vehicles. A clean driving record, with no serious driving offenses or accidents in the last 5 years. Proven ability to handle large commercial vehicles with confidence and precision. Knowledge of national road networks, trucking routes, and logistics hubs. Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) or similar tracking systems is advantageous. Physical ability to handle loading/unloading tasks and perform routine vehicle checks. Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality. Good problem-solving skills to manage unexpected route or vehicle issues. Willingness to undertake frequent and extended trips away from Rustenburg .
