Job summary

Placements24 in Polokwane seeks an experienced Logistics Supervisor to lead the warehouse team at the distribution center. You will oversee receiving, put-away, picking, packing and shipping to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

You will schedule staff, monitor performance, resolve issues, coach the team, and enforce SOPs and safety standards daily.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Logistics Supervisor to lead operations at their distribution center in Polokwane . This supervisory role involves overseeing the daily activities of the warehouse team, ensuring efficient handling of goods, and maintaining high standards of productivity, safety, and accuracy. You will be responsible for scheduling staff, monitoring performance, resolving operational issues, and ensuring that all logistics functions meet company targets. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities and a comprehensive understanding of warehouse operations and logistics processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the daily activities of the warehouse team, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping.
• Ensure operational efficiency, productivity, and accuracy of all logistics functions within the distribution center.
• Schedule warehouse staff, manage work assignments, and monitor performance against targets.
• Train new team members and provide ongoing coaching and development to the existing staff.
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues as they arise, minimizing disruptions to workflow.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in logistics or a related field is an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse operations or logistics, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead role.
• Proven ability to manage and motivate a team in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
• Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control principles.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in a warehouse setting.
