Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in logistics planning; wine/beverage sector a significant advantage.
• Strong understanding of international shipping procedures, Incoterms, and export documentation requirements.
• Knowledge of regulations governing export of alcoholic beverages.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and manage end-to-end logistics for wine shipments including export and domestic distribution.
• Coordinate with production, sales and export teams to ensure demand forecasting and on-time orders.
• Manage relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines and transport providers for cost-effective, reliable service.
• Prepare export documentation including customs declarations, certificates of origin and phytosanitary certificates.
• Ensure compliance with international and domestic wine and spirits transport regulations.
• Monitor shipments and address delays or issues to minimize disruption.
• Oversee warehouse operations for wine storage including temperature control and stock rotation.
• Optimize transportation routes and modes for cost efficiency and timely delivery.
• Analyze logistics costs and identify efficiency improvements.

About the Role

Our client, a renowned wine producer and exporter located in the heart of the Stellenbosch, Western Cape winelands, is looking for a dedicated Logistics Planner with specialized knowledge of the wine industry. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient and timely movement of our premium wine products from the cellar to international and domestic markets. You will be responsible for coordinating all logistical aspects, including warehousing, transportation, documentation, and compliance with export regulations specific to alcoholic beverages. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of supply chain dynamics within the wine sector, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for quality and precision in logistics planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage the end-to-end logistics process for wine shipments, including export and domestic distribution.
• Liaise with production, sales, and export departments to ensure accurate demand forecasting and timely order fulfillment.
• Select and manage relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and transport providers to secure competitive rates and reliable services.
• Prepare and manage all necessary export documentation, including customs declarations, certificates of origin, and phytosanitary certificates.
• Ensure compliance with all international and domestic regulations pertaining to the transport and export of wine and spirits.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in logistics planning, with a specific focus on the wine or beverage industry being a significant advantage.
• Strong understanding of international shipping procedures, Incoterms, and export documentation requirements.
• Knowledge of regulations governing the export of alcoholic beverages.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in logistics planning software and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with different departments and external partners.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, particularly regarding documentation and compliance.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa.
