Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a leading international wine producer and distributor, is seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Logistics Manager to oversee their complex supply chain operations in the picturesque region of Paarl, Western Cape . This role is responsible for managing the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods, from raw materials to finished products, ensuring timely delivery to both domestic and international markets. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of global logistics, wine industry supply chains, and a proven ability to optimize transportation, warehousing, and inventory management. This is a key leadership position within a prestigious company, offering the chance to shape critical operational functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies to support business objectives.
• Oversee all aspects of inbound and outbound logistics, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
• Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs), freight forwarders, and carriers, negotiating contracts and ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
• Optimize inventory levels across the supply chain to meet demand while minimizing holding costs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant international trade regulations, customs requirements, and hazardous materials handling procedures.
• Implement and manage logistics software and systems to improve visibility, efficiency, and traceability.
• Lead and mentor a team of logistics professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
• Develop and monitor key logistics performance indicators (KPIs) and generate regular reports for senior management.
• Manage the logistics budget and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency gains.
• Collaborate with production, sales, and finance teams to ensure seamless supply chain operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in logistics management, with at least 4 years in a senior role.
• Proven experience in managing complex international logistics, preferably within the wine, beverage, or FMCG industry.
• In-depth knowledge of transportation modes, customs procedures, and international trade regulations.
• Strong experience with WMS, TMS, and ERP systems.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, based in Paarl, Western Cape .
• Proficiency in relevant logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
