Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is a rapidly growing entity in the Logistics & Warehousing sector, seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Logistics Operations Coordinator to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg, Gauteng, ZA . This role is central to ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods through our client's supply chain. You will be instrumental in coordinating daily logistical activities, managing inventory, and liaising with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments. The ideal candidate possesses a keen understanding of warehousing best practices, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to operational excellence. This hybrid position offers the flexibility to balance remote work with essential on-site presence, allowing for direct oversight of critical operations within our Johannesburg hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the logistics and warehousing department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of shipments.
• Manage inbound and outbound logistics, including scheduling pickups, deliveries, and freight consolidation.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure accuracy through regular cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Liaise with transportation carriers to negotiate rates, track shipments, and resolve any transit issues.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all logistical activities in the company's WMS (Warehouse Management System).
• Communicate effectively with internal departments (sales, procurement, production) and external partners to ensure seamless coordination.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies regarding warehousing and transportation.
• Assist in the training and onboarding of new logistics and warehouse staff.
• Prepare reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and cost per shipment.

Requirements

• Proven experience (3+ years) in logistics coordination, supply chain management, or a similar role within a warehousing environment.
• Strong understanding of warehousing principles, inventory management, and transportation processes.
• Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other relevant logistics software.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude towards identifying and resolving issues.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a warehouse setting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
• Experience in the Gauteng logistics market is an advantage.
• A relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration is preferred.
