About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics and Distribution Manager to oversee their operations in the Paarl, Western Cape, ZA region. This critical role is responsible for the efficient management of all inbound and outbound logistics activities, warehousing, and transportation. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of supply chain best practices, and a proven track record of optimizing distribution networks. You will lead a team of logistics professionals, implement strategic initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the timely delivery of goods to our client's customers. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to operational excellence. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and cost-effective functioning of our client's distribution channels within this key geographical area.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the logistics and distribution function, including warehousing, transportation, and fleet management.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
• Oversee inventory management processes, ensuring accuracy and optimal stock levels.
• Lead, train, and motivate the logistics team to achieve departmental goals and KPIs.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies within the distribution center.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with transportation carriers and third-party logistics providers.
• Monitor and analyze distribution performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and sales, to ensure seamless supply chain integration.
• Manage the logistics budget and control operational expenditures.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in logistics and distribution management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in logistics and distribution management.
• Proven experience in managing warehouse operations and transportation networks.
• Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory control, and freight management.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
• Proficiency in using logistics software and ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Experience in the Paarl, Western Cape, ZA region or similar markets is advantageous.
