Job summary

Kendrick Recruitment seeks an experienced General Manager for a luxury 5-star lodge in Botswana. The role requires leadership of operations, finance, staff, and guest experience, with a focus on sustainability and community engagement.

The GM will oversee guest services, cost control, and HR policies, while driving revenue growth and maintaining high standards across accommodation, dining, and activities. Live-in accommodation is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience managing a five-star lodge or similar luxury operation.
• Strong experience in guest relations, staff management, and operational oversight.
• Qualification in Hospitality or Business Management.
• Energetic, proactive, and capable of delivering a world-class guest experience.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer and financial acumen.
• Outgoing, warm, and confident personality, comfortable with affluent guests.
• Well-presented, honest, diligent, and self-motivated.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, guests, governmental departments, the community, and industry partners
• Lead corporate social responsibility initiatives, including community development projects
• Ensure business efficiencies through cost control, quality management, and use of local produce
• Maintain HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance across all departments
• Develop and enhance guest experiences across all touchpoints including accommodation, dining, and activities
• Assess and manage operational equipment, vehicles, generators, and buildings for optimal performance
• Monitor and improve sustainability practices and their impact on the business
• Oversee budget forecasting and financial management to align with business goals
• Provide training and development to staff to uphold service standards
• Host agents, media, and VIP groups, ensuring exemplary representation of the lodge
• Overall responsibility for the effective management and operation of the lodge
