Job summary

Ergasia Placements seeks an experienced attorney admitted to the High Court of South Africa to manage a portfolio of banking litigation and recoveries. The role involves handling vehicle repossessions, asset recoveries, and both defended and undefended High Court matters.

You will draft pleadings, coordinate with clients and sheriffs, and ensure strict court deadlines are met. A strong grasp of insolvency and related acts is essential.

Qualifications

• Admitted attorney of the High Court of SA.
• Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience.
• Banking litigation and secured asset recovery experience.
• Vehicle repossessions and VAF litigation experience desirable.
• Defended and undefended High Court litigation experience.
• Knowledge of insolvency, business rescue, liquidation and deceased estates.
• Strong understanding of NCA, Insolvency Act, Companies Act and High Court procedures.
• Ability to manage litigation from inception to finalisation.

Minimum Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience (PAE).
• Proven experience in banking litigation and secured asset recoveries.
• Experience in vehicle repossessions and Vehicle and Asset Finance (VAF) litigation is highly desirable.
• Experience in defended and undefended High Court litigation.
• Knowledge of insolvency, business rescue, liquidation and deceased estate matters involving financial institutions.
• Strong understanding of the National Credit Act, Insolvency Act, Companies Act and High Court procedures.
• Experience managing litigation matters independently from inception to finalisation.
