Job summary

Ergasia Placements seeks an experienced attorney admitted to the High Court of South Africa to manage a portfolio of banking litigation and recoveries. The role involves handling vehicle repossessions, asset recoveries, and both defended and undefended High Court matters.

You will draft pleadings, coordinate with clients and sheriffs, and ensure strict court deadlines are met. A strong grasp of insolvency and related acts is essential.

Qualifications

• Admitted attorney of the High Court of SA.
• Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience.
• Banking litigation and secured asset recovery experience.
• Vehicle repossessions and VAF litigation experience desirable.
• Defended and undefended High Court litigation experience.
• Knowledge of insolvency, business rescue, liquidation and deceased estates.
• Strong understanding of NCA, Insolvency Act, Companies Act and High Court procedures.
• Ability to manage litigation from inception to finalisation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of banking litigation and recovery matters.
• Handle vehicle repossessions and asset recoveries for clients.
• Draft and settle pleadings, affidavits, notices and court documents.
• Manage defended and undefended High Court proceedings and trials.
• Oversee execution processes, warrants of attachment and sales in execution.
• Coordinate with sheriffs, counsel, banking clients and stakeholders.
• Attend court proceedings, case management conferences and settlements.
• Provide regular updates on litigation progress and outcomes.
