MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Required:
- LLB degree in Law with strong academic credentials.
- At least 4 years of legal experience in mining (permitting, environmental and renewable energy), properties specifically mining properties, corporate and commercial matters
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court (South Africa)
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience in managing external legal counsel
- Proven record of supervisory and or leadership experience
- Medical Certificate of Fitness
- Computer Literacy
- Fluency in both verbal and written English is essential
- Code 8 Driver’s license

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is required to:
- Support the Group Head of Legal and work closely with other departments across the Executive team, providing commercially orientated practical, thoughtful and timely legal advice
- Optimise the responsibility to ensure pro-active identification of issues that have the potential to identify non-conformances when coming to departmental audits
- Build a motivated and unified performance-driven team and liaise with interested and affected parties.
- Lead a process whereby multi-disciplinary teams of independent experts meaningfully and technically advise on relevant and material legal matters, business risks potentially impacting on the actions
- Draft and negotiate agreements and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights
- Audit
- Coordinate and effectively interact with a professional legal team, compromising of in-house legal team members, external attorneys and other professionals.
- Responsible and accountable to assist the Group Head of Legal with the implementation of corporate legal strategy consistent with the company’s corporate strategy, mission and purpose
- Encourage a more engaged and proactive safety culture.
