About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and diligent Legal Counsel to focus on commercial contracts for their operations in Soweto . This role is essential for ensuring that all commercial agreements are legally sound, accurately reflect business intentions, and mitigate potential risks. You will work closely with various business units to draft, review, and negotiate a diverse range of contracts. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of contract law and a practical, business-focused approach to legal advice within the Gauteng region.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements , including but not limited to sales contracts, service level agreements, and partnership agreements.
• Provide clear and concise legal advice on contractual terms, risks, and obligations to business teams.
• Ensure all contracts comply with relevant South African laws and company policies.
• Manage the contract lifecycle, from initiation and drafting to execution and renewal.
• Assist in dispute resolution related to contractual matters.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal developments affecting commercial contracts.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with at least 5 years of experience, with a strong focus on contract law and commercial transactions.
• Proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
• Solid understanding of South African contract law and related legislation.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Must be a registered legal practitioner in good standing.
