Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous and proactive Legal Counsel (Contracts) to join our legal team in Port Elizabeth. The role focuses on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, ensuring legal soundness and risk management aligned with business objectives.

You will provide practical guidance to business units, develop contract templates, and ensure compliance with South African law.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with minimum 4 years post-qualification experience in commercial contract law.
• Strong drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements.
• Excellent understanding of South African contract law principles.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts including supply and distribution agreements and NDAs.
• Provide expert advice on contractual interpretation and risks.
• Develop and maintain standardized contract templates and playbooks.
• Collaborate with sales, procurement, and operations to support business needs.
• Ensure all contracts comply with SA laws and company policies.
• Assist in managing contract disputes and advise on resolutions.
