Cape Peninsula University of Technology invites applications for a Lecturer/Junior Lecturer in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering) on a 6-month contract. Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in Civil Engineering with a structural specialty or are registered for a Master’s.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with specialisation in Structural Engineering or equivalent, relevant to the Civil Engineering programme.
• At least 2 years’ relevant teaching experience in higher education and/or 2 years’ industrial experience in Civil Engineering.
• Honours Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering. Must be registered for Masters in the area of study.
• At least 1 year’s relevant teaching experience in higher education and/or 1 year’s industrial experience in Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality lecturing in Civil Engineering subjects.
• Develop, contribute and generate new knowledge through research outputs.
• Supervise and mentor students.
• Develop innovative teaching, learning and assessment materials.
• Contribute to curriculum and programme development.
• Promote community participation, linkages, outreach and industry liaison.
• Support assessment and academic development activities.
• Perform and assist with academic administrative duties.
• Ensure and participate in quality assurance practices within the Department.
• Proven ability to deliver structured, high‑quality lectures.
